Hilary Farr, host of “Love It Or List It,” designed an award winning entry that won first place recognition for Farr and Pine Hall Brick Company in the Clay Brick – Residential category of the Hardscape North America (HNA) Awards at the organization’s annual convention last week in Louisville, KY.
“Love It or List It” host Hilary Farr’s new home in Raleigh, NC, built using Pine Hall Brick face brick and clay pavers, features a terraced garden walkway using Rumbled Bluffs pavers in an unusual English random pattern – a mix of Spanish bond, herringbone, basketweave and running bond and has roots dating back centuries to old English Gardens when masonry was truly an art. Farr herself designed the walkway. The job was featured on “Love It or List It” earlier this year.

Pine Hall Brick pavers were also first place winners in the commercial clay brick category for a hardscape installation at University of Tampa the world’s largest musical sculpture, the Ars Sonora, a gleaming metal carillon, 105 feet tall. Pine Hall Brick pavers were used to create an ornate “lotus flower” pattern of intersecting walkways on the Sykes Plaza below.

A second Honorable Mention was earned in the Water Permeable Brick category for 3.4-acre hardscape, including parking and streets, at the Central Industrial District Historic West Bottoms in Kansas City, MO. The Pine Hall Brick StormPave™ water permeable pavers were key to the project mission to protect the water quality of the nearby confluence of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers.
