Patio and pathway projects come alive with NC-made paving bricks

Greensboro, NC – April 14, 2004 – Pine Hall Brick’s 9th annual “Paver Day” program in Greensboro is free and open to the public.

See the beauty and versatility of North Carolina-made paving bricks up close on April 24th. Pine Hall Brick will hold a yard sale and free patio demonstration at its Greensboro retail outlet, located on the right in the New Garden Village Complex at 5591 Garden Village Way. Pine Hall Brick is the nation’s largest supplier of clay paving brick, employing over 325 people in North Carolina.

The event runs from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, with hot dogs and soft drinks available at 11:00. Then, at 9:00 and 11:00 am, experienced professionals will teach the basics of installing paving brick patios, walkways and driveways with live installation demonstrations. At 12:00 there will be a drawing for a free cube of English Edge® paving bricks. Delivery is included within Guilford county.

There will also be a yard sale of low-priced factory “seconds” in an assortment of styles and sizes. Delivery is available in a limited area when customers purchase in cubed quantities of 495 pieces. Pine Hall Brick can also provide referrals to professional brick installers.

The Carolinas region is the leading producer of clay brick and continues to contribute to the industry’s success through growing usage of brick in homes, commercial and government buildings, streetscapes and public areas.

“We’re also seeing more use of brick pavers in new construction and home improvement projects because people know that brick has a timeless beauty that increases home values,” says Ted Corvey, paver director at Pine Hall Brick. “Also, you usually don’t need a building permit for brick patios, and brick is easier for the do-it-yourselfer to install,” Corvey explains.

The March issue of North Carolina Builder reported that, in a 2000 survey of the most popular homeowner projects, the National Association of Home Builders found that adding outdoor living space such as a patio is second only to room additions or remodeling the kitchen or bath. It’s also the least expensive project per square foot.
